The shape of the test: 2 sections (Reading & Writing, then Math). Each section has 2 modules. Total time ≈ 2 hours 14 minutes. Scored 400–1600.
How the adaptive scoring works
- Each section's Module 1 is a mix of easy, medium, and hard questions.
- Your performance on Module 1 decides whether Module 2 is the higher-difficulty or lower-difficulty path.
- Reaching the harder Module 2 is required to unlock the top score range. So Module 1 matters enormously — treat every early question as high-stakes.
Rules that help you
- No penalty for wrong answers — never leave a question blank.
- Within a module you can move freely, flag questions, and return before time runs out.
- Once you submit a module or it times out, you cannot go back to it.
- Built-in tools: Desmos graphing calculator (whole Math section), a reference sheet, annotation, and an on-screen timer you can hide.
1500+ mindset: Because Module 1 gates your ceiling, avoid careless early mistakes. Slow down slightly at the start; you'll bank time as the routine questions go quickly.
