On a timed adaptive test, time management is a skill you practice — not something you figure out on test day. Here's the clock you're racing.
The numbers: Each Reading & Writing module = 27 questions in 32 minutes (~71 seconds each). Each Math module = 22 questions in 35 minutes (~95 seconds each).
The pacing playbook
- Never sink 3+ minutes into one question. Flag it, put your best guess, and move on. A hard question is worth the same as an easy one.
- Two-pass strategy: answer everything you can quickly on pass one, then spend leftover time on flagged questions.
- Always bubble something. With no wrong-answer penalty, a blank is a guaranteed miss and a guess is a free shot.
- Front-load care in Module 1 (it sets your difficulty path), but don't freeze — balance accuracy with the clock.
- In Reading & Writing, the questions are roughly in order of type, not difficulty — don't assume later means harder.
Guessing smart: Eliminate even one choice and your odds jump. Pick a consistent "letter of the day" for pure guesses so you don't waste time deliberating.
