Full-length practice tests

4 complete, timed tests at the real length of the enhanced ACT: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science if you are taking it — 171 questions, four answer choices throughout, no grid-ins.

How each test works

  • English: 50 questions, 35 minutes.
  • Mathematics: 45 questions, 50 minutes — a calculator is allowed here and only here.
  • Break, then Reading: 36 questions, 40 minutes.
  • Science (optional): 40 questions, 40 minutes. It does not count toward your Composite.
  • Composite estimate on the 1–36 scale — the average of English, Math and Reading — plus a full answer review.

Each form follows ACT's published blueprint for every section — the reporting-category shares for English, Reading and Science, and the 80/20 split between Preparing for Higher Math and Integrating Essential Skills — and the Math section runs from easiest to hardest, as ACT says the real one does. No question appears in more than one form. Reading and Science are built from whole passages, as the real test is: a form gives you six or seven Reading passages carrying four to seven questions each, and seven Science passages carrying five to seven. Three differences are worth knowing before you compare a score with a real one. Reading is longer here — 4,200 to 4,800 words of passage across a form, against roughly 2,800 on a real one, so there is more to read for the same 40 minutes. English is more fragmented — about half of our 50 English questions (25 to 28, depending on the form) are single sentences with no passage at all, and the rest come one to three to a short passage, where the real test gives ten questions on each 340-word passage and five on each shorter one; practising here will not rehearse holding a whole essay in your head. And our questions are easier on average than the hardest ones on a real form.

Scores are read from the raw-to-scale table ACT printed for its official practice form, with ACT's own published standard error shown beside each section. They are study estimates, not official ACT scores — ACT itself says a raw score converts differently on every form.

Science is an add-on you choose when you register for the real test, so it is a choice here too. Leaving it out cannot lower your Composite — but some colleges ask for the score, and the STEM score needs it.
